Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane
Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle aka Cat Woman.

Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven. “The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Well, I don't know what this means as far as Nolan's "realistic" take on the Batman mythos, but the fact that they brought Catwoman and Bane in means... well, I don't know what it means. In BATMAN AND ROBIN Bane was a really stupid idea, but knowing Nolan they're likely going for something different, and with Tom Hardy playing him it's sure to be a formidable opponent for Christian Bale. As far as Anne Hathaway playing Catwoman, I wonder how the character will be used in this as well. In one of the comic storylines Kyle was actually related to Falcone (Tom Wilkinson from the first film) and I'm curious if they'll use that angle since they still went with the crime angle in THE DARK KNIGHT.

totally ok with this Anne Hathaway is one of the better actresses imo.

Anne Hathaway is sexy, but she's not the kind of sexy that Catwoman is. Someone I know, a Catwoman super-fan, suggested Charlize Theron. I agree.

Still, Hathaway is a brilliant actress and I'll gladly sacrifice her being the RIGHT kind of sexy for her simply being very sexy in general. Hopefully she can nail the character.

As for Bane, it's far, far too late to bring him in to the franchise in the manner he deserves to be showcased. It's something, like Eddie Brock/Venom, that should have been cultivated throughout the franchise and built up, using the third movie as resolution. You still could've even had The Joker in the second.

I have a feeling this'll just be a really amazing superhero movie, rather than having that special something that made the first two so much more.

Also, Talia Al Ghul would've been far better than Catwoman. I'm afraid they're gonna do a romance angle, and there's no need. Either way, Nolan is many things, but he's not an idiot.

Yeah I was assuming they would do a romance angle with Bale and Hathaway, back and fourth, and I agree with Charlize Theron, she's smoking hot. I hope they don't make Bane a meat head.

EDIT: @Norrin I don't read comics, maybe a few Avengers here and there, but I was wondering , after reading the bio for Bane, wouldn't he instead of repeating his name over and over, be a little more educated, because it says he would grab a hold of any kind of book and read it, workout, etc. In Peña Duro, And someone stated in the other forums I'm active in, that Bane crippled Batman, paralyzing him, so he could be a worthy opponent.

Yea I know, I tried to find something sexy for Hathaway, and a badass photo of Hardy.

That pics from Bronson I think, good movie, funny it kind of doesn't have an ending (based on a true ongoing story).

As for Anne as Cat Woman, can she really pull it off? sexy yes, but Cat Woman sexy? hmmm
