There are 3 i have tried and all were text-based which are good to play from even the cheapest of smart phones as well as PC. They are also Free or Pay for ingame items. Either way you can do well.

BiteFight - The new version forces levels but is still ok i guess if you like that gamestyle. It is PvP and Clan vs Clan. It still produces the need for allies and friendship and creates a game of working together as much as alone to be successful. If you are playing for the first time remember to choose an older server to play from as it will be easier to learn there as most within range to attack you at the start are either banned or no longer keeping up their accounts. Newer servers starts action more rapid but most who jump there when the new ones open are the ones spending alot monthly to play so playing free and learning will ruin the game for you there. To do this just look at the address bar after choosing to join and change the area like s12 to s1 - s4 and refresh the page. This will sign you up on one of the older servers.Again if you do not mind being forced to level by every action it is worth trying. There is a domain for all languages so choose wisely as each is permitted only that language. Google will list almost all of them.

Blood Wars is also fairly decent. Is PvP and while you can join or create a clan it doesn't really hold for any type of clan vs clan action. Clans mostly quest together or attack solo. Can lay sieges which allows clan members to aide in but nothing more than a time killer game.

DoomLord is another. I did not really play long but again if you like force levelling then it is probably a decent game. As of the last time i spoke with friends from BiteFight this game was gaining popularity.

Of course there is always Evony. I am actually not a world building type player but if you like those type games there are masses of people playing.

If you like Fiesta type graphics and Anime gameplay, Lucent Heart is coming out pretty soon in the US. Was a huge hit in Japan (still one of the top games played there), with lots of gameplay features (matchmaking for bonus exp, player run crafting system and really fun combat).

Should be a good alternative for people looking for the next anime style MMORPG to play

Best(most players): www.molten-wow.com

I'm playing it right now and its great. Its free and experience is multiplied.(Lvl 43 in 3-4 days)

And there is alot of people playing it. Always somone to do something with.
I tried this years ago: An excellent option. You get to explore the entire world of wow with a lot less grinding. Some servers allow you to solo bosses too. Rich story development.

Otherwise, Vindictus is all right if you want to play for a few weeks: interesting and action/rpg combat is a fresh take on the normal point-and-click grind. A treat.
