So, in April, the first season, I.E The entire first book "A Game of Thrones"(of, hopefully, many more) in the "dramafication" of George R.R Martin's series, The Song of Ice and Fire, is due to air, and I'm stoked.
Finally som quality fantasy for the screen that is being properly handled, made in a format that doesn't force the creaters to jump through to many loops in order to keep most(if not all) of the substance. So far, it's looking pretty good too. For those who don't know: A Song of Ice and Fire, is one of the bestselling, and most critically acclaimed works of fantasy there is(also probably one the best written if truth be told). It's also one of the more harder, grittier, more "realistic" works of fantasy, so don't expect to see too much magic, elves and orcs, and so forth. Rather, be prepared for a tale filled with violence, rape, poverty, incest, depression and some pretty epic story-twists in a medieval/dark-ages setting. Did I mention it's being made by HBO? Yeah, well, I'll mention it again. Oh. and Sean Bean ftw. Here's some teasers:
And here's a lengthy video "behind the scenes":
So any other fans(or would be-fans) here? |

And yes, it's pretty violent and sexual - Not that I'd advise people to read it for that part of it. Most of the sex is disgusting to be honest, reflecting the nature of time periods like that, with incest and what we today would call pedophilia. So if you're looking for the romantic/erotic high-fantasy sex, you're not going to get it =P |

^Yeah which is why I'm looking forward to it.
When the Sword of Truth adaptation was made, the producers totally raped it, and removed any and all adult themes in that could possibly be considered controversial, and thus also destroyed the entire theme and seriousness of the series. It was degraded into a newer version of Sinbad the Sailor/Xena. I'm pretty confident this won't the case here. I'm just really happy we're finally getting some serious fantasy, made by some serious people. EDIT: Also, I'd recommend you grab the books as well(goes without saying though).
