F.E.A.R not starting?

if you get a black screen when trying to start F.E.A.R Combat, disable sound by running the Config.exe file in your F.E.A.R folder and going to options.

no one had this problem, but i had so if other ppl do they can just check this topic

maybe your computer doesnt meet the specifications needed?

no, its because fear doesnt support ac 97 sound cards, so you need to disable it.

Really? Because I'm running on my onboard sound which happens to be a AC'97, and I can run the game just fine.

me too...
I wish I had a 24bit card though, onboard sound can get really bad with 600 sounds happening at the same time.

hmm weird, i went to the fear forums and pretty much people had the same problem (Realtek AC97 and Vinyl AC97). i cant understand why you guys dont
