((OOC: Again, I'm really sorry...))
Niola turned away from Cyr for a moment, embarrassed by his sudden outburst of laughter, and stared at Nel. The watch was obviously one of them, but Niola wanted to hear her option first. When she bluntly shoved the job off, Niola tried to stop herself from giggling and instead grinned at Nel. For someone who had seemed so terrified and horrified of the war, Nel appeared much more carefree and merry than when they first met. In fact, before Niola could remind her that she had offered to be on watch duty, the girl plopped her head down on the few pillows she had found and fell asleep on the thin mattress ((I'm assuming you slept on it instead of the hard, filfthy floor :/ )).
"Good night, Nel," Niola murmured softly, letting the words drift in the air like a tranquil lullaby. Then she turned her head back to the window and gazed outward. Everything seemed frozen, like a painting full of life, unable to continue the scene within it. Silence hung like a the closing of a curtain, signalling the end of a performance. Not even the sounds of little critters calling to their mates and singing with cheerful or sorrowful voices could be heard to break the eternal silence. Then, just when Niola felt like she was enclosed in some sort of sound-proof barrier, the sound of clumsy feet trying to worm their way around the academy reached her ears.
"Could it be...a survivor?" Niola questioned to herself, listening intensely. Whoever it was was obviously either very clumsy or extremely scared. Knowing the building had experienced many deaths within it, Niola decided the latter had to be correct. She couldn't make out the exact location the frightful person was headed, but they seemed to tumble or collide into something with each passing second. Suddenly, the noise stopped and silence returned. Niola tried to recall the direction the person had taken and a remote idea of where the individual could be entered her mind.
"Alright, I should investigate; after all, there is no telling exactly who we might be dealing with," Niola told herself as she clawed her way to the door and pulled with all her might on the doornob. "Besides...I'm...on......watch duty!"
With the last two words, the door flung open wide enough for Niola to slip through. The stench of dead bodies immediately hit Niola with full force, causing her to gag a bit and cover her mouth and nose with both her hands. Already feeling a bit woozy from the vile odor, Niola made her way swiftly to her destination. As she got closer, Niola could have sworn she heard heavy breathing. Unfortunately, her senses were being distorted from the smell, and she couldn't tell for sure if what she heard was really there. Taking a few steps forward, Niola knew she definitely heard the sound of someone getting up and walking away in a hurried pace. Not wanting to lose her target, Niola followed after the mysterious person.
((OOC: Tell me if this is okay. I thought that sense Niola is a full air user, she would be able to pick up the sounds of someone tripping about and making their way through the academy. ))
