Default So I have a Windows install .exe

To install Windows 7. It says it needs a temporary partition of 680Mbs on the boot disk. I'm sure I have that. My Disk 0 says Healthy, Boot, etc. and has 681Mbs unallocated. The windows .exe can't find the partition.

What do?

Please?

Put your windows 7 disk in, go into set up, click on your main harddrive, or the harddrive you use for your OS (I use a seperate OS for my HDD), then click on it, format it, then install. The installation should create a partition on its own.

Otherwise, go into your BOOT menu in BIOS, then disable Optical drive ( Your CD rom drives) from the start up boot menu, or bring it lower in the queue.

this is often the problem sometimes.

I don't have the install on CD, just as an .exe file.

Is it burned to a CD or flash drive?

I've never heard of a Windows 7 executable, where did you get it from?

i'm thinking you might need to make a bootable iso from the exe?

like:

http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/1...up2-box-files/

could be wrong though, i've never heard of installing windows 7 through an exe haha.

edit: actually i think i'm reading the post wrong, have you tried making a partition separate to the one you run windows off now?

he's most likely speaking of:
  • folder name
  • folder name
  • folder name
  • folder name
  • setup.exe

And yea, you need to make a bootable iso out of it
