The whole Mormon cosmology is pretty weird, though, when you compare it to other Christian movements.

Mormons are not Christians. Just please understand that and I'll be a happy camper. Their ideals and beliefs are so non-Christian it's scary. The only similarities between the two are the names of God, Jesus, Satan, and some of the angels. That's about where it ends. Want a nutshell of their beliefs, in a completely un-biased and truthful summary?
Mormons believe that a man named Joseph Smith found "golden tablets" in the Americas which he said were the written instructions of God for man. Coincidently, these tablets do not currently reside anywhere, because they were "lost". They believe that Jesus and Satan are actually brothers with God being their father. There was a big dispute in "Heaven" and Satan was cast on to the Earth with a few of the angels.
Mormons believe in a very different afterlife as well. According to their faith once a MAN dies he has the choice to raise himself from his grave and take a wife with him. If his wife was good he will take her with him to another planet in the galaxy and start a new race of human beings there (God was just one of these continued creations). Alternatively, if the wife was bad he can choose to just leave her in the grave.
The mormons are required to wear a special undergarment for certain occassions. Various ceremonies are conducted within the secrecy of their church, ceremonies that are not allowed to be filmed, photographed, or discussed. Once you join their church it is hard to get out.
Interesting fact, originally Black people were not allowed to be Mormon, as they believed Blacks to be lesser creatures than the White humans that were created by God.
