Why can't you swim without your glasses?

I have like 4.25 and 4.5 on the lenses and I can still swim and see everything just fine. In fact, when I put on my normal swimming "glasses" or whatever the hell they're called, I see just fine.

Then again, when I was changing my glasses about 2 months ago, I payed over $150 for them in For Eyes.
