After looking around the interwebz for a bit, i pretty much learned that the pc you have, the m8120n, probably has a standard ATX 300 or 350w power supply. Sadly, moder videocards require a minimum of 450w to be taken full advantage of. I doubt your powersupply would have pci-e power connectors, sorry. the only other option you would have is to convert the pci-e power port into a different one (called molex), but still would not power due to the lack of a proper power supply.

You have two options at this point, purchase a videocard such as the 4670 that does not require pci-e power connector and use that for a pretty significant performance boost.

Or, purchase a whole new power supply to future-proof your computer a bit more and allow for further upgrading and high-end video cards to be installed in your system.

You shouldn't worry too much about the "PCI-e 2.0 card going into a 1.0 port" problem.
Ive built a few pc's/ upgraded parts for family and friends and never experienced such a problem with older models.
The card that Snow purchased could have been defective and should have gotten a refund :/
