start with action ... and then choose your genre over time :O ... i myself started with very old series and i can't really tell you names without checking my list ... but naruto 1st season hooked me up really well :O biggest shounen jump animes are best ... naruto , one piece ... maybe bleach MAYBE!

But i would say I Challenge you to watch Whole Naruto or one piece or even bleach !

samurai champloo, cowboy bebop, rouroni kenshin, dragonball series....

there r a ton of classical action animes out there. google them and pick what you think suits your tastes.
