Are these two classics still actively played? and if so. Where can i snag some copies?

To buy of course. unless they have been freely released.

You can buy them at ebay i don't think gamestores sell them anymore.

Quake II still has a fairly active online community, and you can't beat the moddage for it, well other than HL1/2 of course.

Quake I, less people playing, but again still fairly active.

Quake 1 is hardly active last time i checked Quake 2 has an ok community since in my opinion one of the best FPS.
