Well, a lot of time and dedication is needed to make a game. Usually, you do it as part of a team. To be part of a game team, you generally need some sort of marketable skill in the game development world.
That can be one of a bunch of things, the two broad denominations being art and programming. Generally if you want to start off making a game, you need to have some knowledge of one of those two categories. As for a game creation toolkit, they tend to be mostly a waste of time, if you don't know either art or some sort of programming/scripting. Since we're already talking via PM, I guess we'll continue this discussion there.

Alright, well, then, your best chance of building a game is to make a portfolio; basically a gallery of all your best works, and then show it off to potential developers. If your art is really good, you should be able to attract some talent, or you should be able to join a project already in progress based on it. You got anything like that currently?
