Default Buying a video card

Hey guys,

I'm looking to purchase a new video card. I'm hoping to be able to easily run games on higher settings and obtain a more responsive system.
It's my first time shopping for one and I was wondering what sort of things I would need to know before doing so?

I've already found out which kind of port I have and what size my power supply is.

Any advice?

What are the specs of your computer?

Also what power supply do you have?

If you bought your PC pre-built it would be good to list the model number as well.
