I am currently a sophomore in an American high school. Now that my junior year is coming up, ive been thinking about college.
After a trip to the Philippines recently, ive begun to consider going to study medicine there, and possibly come back to America to work. How would i transition from an American high school to a college in the Philippines? I would prefer to go to a school in either Manila or Baguio Last edited by Cata|yst; 05-20-2011 at 08:11 PM. |

Usually you don't go straight from American high school to a foreign college. Are you planning to get your degree overseas or in America? American college students study abroad by taking some classes that goes towards their American college degree. I don't know why you would want a degree from the Philippines rather than America. Isn't it better to have a degree from an American school and on your resume you can add that you got some of your education from a Philippines university?

Honestly our high scool education is a joke, your better off going to college here and using the study abroad programs to get some international experience for your resume.

Check if their degree is something worth in the U.S.
I sort of know this because many Dutch degrees are anything but accepted in Belgium. (medicine being a big one)

There are a lot of cities in USA with a large lack of Nurses (RNs) and Doctors. Though hm why the Philippines?
You will have to check if they do student visas. You will have to meet those student visa requirements (if there are any). Wow I was looking at the Student Visa info and it's sorta easy. TOO EASY.

Haha, many have asked as to why i would want to go abroad.
Firstly, i was raised there till i was 7, then moved here in America. Recently, i went there to visit and was able to experience the difference in life style and culture that i completely forgot. I prefer it there, i dont know why. Its also hella fun to just chill. And of course, the tuition is hella cheap compared to here. To be honest, if i did graduate in the Philippines, i would probably just stay there for good. Yeah America would offer better money, but its not really what im pursuing the most. |

![]() Pinoy people are pretty cool. Had a ton of pinoy friends in HS. ![]() But yeah good culture makes a good life. Hard to find good culture here in USA unless you live in a big city. Or you know you have to live in the pockets of America with people who share your heritage. And hm better money wouldn't be a big deal since well the currencies are worth different amounts. You could always work in America for a while and save up that money and then you know move to the Philippines for a few decades.
