So basically a sequel right?

Just curious on why Cartoon Network showed the Sequel first and not the original.

Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal (God, I hate that name), Tsuiokuhen or Recollection, is the prequel. It's when Kenshin was a small child to his teens, showing how he became the "Hitokiri Battousai". It shows the times when he got the 2 cuts on his face, leaving the "X" that you see in the anime.

Reason why Cartoon Network would never show the prequel is because it's incredibly violent. It has A LOT of killing and stuff you won't see on the show, since he's the "good guy" and uses the dull end of his weapon, throughout the series. It's also a very serious OVA, so you won't be seeing any "funny" moments either. It's a very good watch and it's very depressing.

Samurai X: Reflection (Seisouhen or Time), is the second OVA, which is the sequel to the anime series. This is when he's much older than he was in the anime, basically putting an end to the Rurouni Kenshin series.
