Tom popped the head of the other Mutant, spraying its blood everywhere. If he waited for his sniper to cool down, David would already be dead by that time( since they were pretty fast Mutants). Tom pulled out and shot his laser pistol faster than you could cough. The beam went through the other Mutant's neck leaving a browned hole. He ran over to David to see if he was ok.
