Default Running Windows on iMac?

Heyhey,

What are the pros and cons of doing such?

I'm looking for a pretty all-in-one computer that can handle casual gaming. I like the iMac a lot and other ALl-in-one computers arent as pretty. I have a small room, i dont exactly want a huge tower and lots of cables....

Whats good about using Windows on Mac?
Whats bad of using Windows on Mac? Any compatibilities issues?

Your wanting a pc for gaming and you want a mac? If I were you I would just drop the whole idea of a mac if you're basing the entire decision on what it looks like. You generally don't look at the actual machine when your using it anyway. You're going to be paying through the *** for mediocre performance and switching the OS to windows anyway. Makes no sense.

Windows, everything your mac can do and more.
There is virtually no real applicable reason left today why you should pick a mac over a normal (read: windows) machine today.

Other than that, is a midi-tower (the normal size fyi) really too big? It fits everything you need, unless you plan on watercooling and/or 4way SLI/CF.

As for cables, get tie-wraps and manage your cables. It takes a bit of work but the effect is astonishing when you cut off the excess length.

That's quite the typical windows fanboy thing to say.

I think they both have their pros and cons.

It may be a typical thing for a fan boy to say, but that's because it relativley true. Sure, they do have their own pros and cons but overall, today windows is simply capable of more. I'm not saying Mac's are crap, I'm just saying your capable of more from a Windows machine. Not a fan boy thing to say, just fact. I do admit I like the look of the Mac's better. Keeping it simple and such.

I just think that most people make those statements without really knowing both sides. Of course on a game website that ignorant behaviour would be less probable.. but still. I believe there are still some pretty substantial pros of using a mac if you are an artist or a user that appreciates an extremely user friendly computer. Consider the fact that Final Cut Pro is a professional video editing software that was designed for Mac. There are other fantastic video editing programs out there, but FCP is exclusive to the Mac and is widely adored among professional filmmakers.

I'm just rambling... I use both PC and MAC for different tasks and I like them both .

I think comparing windows to OSX is like comparing a Civic to a Mercedes.

Both will get you where you want to go but the Mercedes generally looks a lot nicer.

IMacs in my opinion looks a whole lot nicer than any windows PC but is significantly more expensive than a PC with specs on a even scale.

I mean if you want a Mac, and have a small room, why not just get a macbook pro and run parallels? Or get a laptop in general. Although I do suggest getting a PC, just because I like them more, I don't really have that much experience with Macs though.

Considering he is purely looking for a gaming computer I'd have to agree that a PC is the better way to go. As for the "substantial pros" Video editing is the only "real" advantage Mac's have over PC's.
One thing that needs to be taken into account is that PC parts can easily be upgraded/replaced in the future(this is especially important if you use your computer mostly for gaming) where as if you wanted to upgrade your Mac you would have to buy a new one.

I totally agree that for gaming, purchasing a mac would be ridiculous. Simple as that :P.
