Correct me if im wrong, wasn't that the guy who confessed to Sakura? Neji stared at the moon before he left and Madara 's big plan is to reflect his eys onto the moon and control the world so maybe he was controlled through that.

i dunno the guy seems fishy lol, also what would neji be able to do against sakura, they are both specialized in melee.. sakura would punch the crap out of him lol so something seems off here

I thought he was just part of a plot device so that the readers wouldn't be suspecting neji but you could be right also, Naruto has been known to throw mind****s lol.

lol when reading it i never even realise neji was spose to be traitor, i thought he was on the guys trail that was a traitor,"the guy that has his arm in a cast".
