Default Can't decide on a GPU.

Since i didn't get any reply's on another forum......guess ill ask here so someone can help me decide.
Can't decide on if i should get a 2gb version of the 6950s or just get a 1gb version..... or maybe go with something from Nvidia, but i haven't had one of their gpus in a long *** time. I know some of the 2gb versions of 6950s can be unlocked to 6970s, but that's not entirely why i was thinking about going with a 2gb version.
I just can't decide on which would be more worthwhile or if the extra price on the 2gb version are worth it. I'm using a 1600x900 monitor for now, and will most likely hook it up to my big screen off and on(1080p). Actually had a 6870 for my build when i built it about 2weeks or so ago, but it was DOA and so i just got a full refund and decided on getting something better since i had the extra money.

I think the 1GB will be more than enough, especially at that resolution. I don't think the unlockable 6950s are for sale anymore, so it would be difficult to find one.

Two useful links for you:

the 2gb would give you more benefit over time, but if you know you're gonna change it within the next 15 months, don't go for it

Actually looked through both of those links but still couldn't decide.
As for upgrading in half a year+. Wasn't actually planning on it. So i guess i could just go with the 2gb version. At least i got some reply's here....

I have a pretty high-res dualscreen setup (1920*1080 and 1680*1050) running both from a single GTX285 1GB and I don't have any troubles. (RAM and processing power wise anyways)

The 1GB one will suffice. If you're going to get the 2GB one, I'd recommend to get a HD6970, since it's not that much more either.

Well, the 6970s are about 80$ more expensive from the 6950s i was looking at. Only have about 275$ for a new GPU.

For all I knew your budget could be 300usd. ><

As I said before, the 1GB version will do just fine.
By the time it really reaches the memory cap we'll be 2-3 generations further anyways.

1 gb is perfect for gaming; I leave rivatuner running to monitor how much memory i use personally. at 1920 x 1080, every game i usually play maxed, i rarely go above 800 mbs. My GPU has 1.2 gigs i believe.

so yes, 1 gig is perfect bro.
