Most governments can easily stop internet. Look at the middle east right now, many of their governments have the ability to shut down communication infrastructure down at will. There are very few <1% who manage to actually get around government blocks using satellite phones and whatnot. Most of your internet is routed through a couple of points around the country if you're in the US. It's quite easy for the government to take over those facilities and even monitor your phone calls and such through those hubs. |
