I've always kinda wished I was born further into the future where things like these and better were already around and I would have an opportunity to exist far longer and healthier.

I thought long term memory is basically limitless?

And I don't think a summer will be passing you by consistently faster, doesn't really make sense. I'd think that sort of thing would plateau.

I guess if you do manage to make it a few more billions of years into the future without a car accident/getting stabbed/lured into a van with candy, maybe you'd see a guy with gills or something?..

Personally if I had a choice for true immortality I would take it. It's a lot better than being around for a short time and then no longer existing.

Wait, life has a point? I guess that would be each to his own, but to me life is completely pointless. We're here cause we're here, so we do stuff. Entirely my own opinion though.

The theory is that as you age, time seems to move faster.
The reasoning behind this, is as you age days, months, and years become less significant amounts of time.

To use my earlier example:
When you turn 10 yrs old, your last year from age 9 to 10, is ten percent of your total life time.
Where as your 50th year of age would only be a mere two percent of your life time, thus your perception of that time becomes more lax.
This theory is still a babe, so it doesn't have that much work behind it yet but I can certainly see how it could be plausible. Especially since I know my days seem shorter now that I'm 20, compared to when I was 11.

For those who didn't read the entire article, and are saying it will cause cancer right off the bat.

Cancer's a little more complicated than some people in this thread seem to think.

there was recently a discovery of a fish that could live endlessly, when ever it got old it would do something with its genes then go back to its youth. basically immortal in terms of age.

Personally i'd never want to live forever; after awhile you'll get bored. Death is a stage of life, we're only afraid of it cause we don't know whats behind closed doors.

just because you're immortal doesn't mean we can't kill you.... not directed towards anyone specifically

Even if we could stop the aging process for humans it wouldn't make you immortal.

Scientist estimate that with aging stopped a human could live to about a thousand years old.

I would mind packing on a few more hundred years to my life.
There are plenty of interesting things to experience and the increasing advancements in science/technology only makes it more interesting.

Although it's a given that as time goes by these advancements will change society drastically.
We will need to throw away old customs and laws to integrate with the rapid changes.

I would only want to be Immortal in the sense of Lost Odyssey. If i could not die, then i would be on board. The only reason for this, is because i would use it for good, and help people. (Yes i would totally be a superhero.)

I think this might be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. If nothing tries to break the mold, the mold doesn't change.
