Default Computer Help.

Tomorrow, I'll be ordering parts for my computer that I'm going to build and I was just wondering if these parts are good.

Get that HDD... a bit more than twice as big and SATA3 (6GBs), thus it's faster.

Since you're going with a non-k version I5, i'd drop the heatsink and put it towards a better GPU. I have a 2500k with the stock heatsink for now, till i decide to overclock it later on, and it stays pretty cool.

I would pick the i5 2500k instead of the i5 2400 that you have right now.

The i5 2500k will Overclock really well and is part of the reason why sandy bridge CPUs are worth getting.

Also you are purchasing a separate heatsink which is not really worth it unless you are doing some overclocking which the i5 2400 will not do since Intel has locked it down. Out of Sandy Bridge CPUs only the i5 2500k and i7 2600k will overclock and it is very easy to do so.

Also I would switch out your 6870 for a GTX 560 which only costs 5 bucks more and has a 20USD mail-in-rebate.
It performs quite a bit better than a 6870.

Alright guys, thanks for the input. Had a bit of trouble last night with my post. So I apologize if you clicked on those empty cart links.

Also, do you mean the GTX 560 ti? Or just the regular gtx 560. I looked at card benchmarks and the HD 6870 performs a bit better then the GTX 560. However, should I not trust these benchmarks? Or is it because of my setup or that the drivers and stuff like physx should be taken into account.

The regular GTX 560 is slightly stronger than the 6870 in most cases and in others even better.

The GTX 560 Ti performs the same in some games and quite a bit better in others.

But it also costs around 35USD more.

Here is a GTX 560Ti for 225USD and you also get a 30 mail-in-rebate which would make it 195USD.

Price to performance wise, go with the 6870, imo. Dirt3 is an awesome game, too. I agree with I.D., if you're overclocking (I assume that's why you have the heatsink) go ahead and pick up the i5 2500k, probably the best CPU on the market in terms of that price at the moment, if not, stick to a i5 2400 and drop the heatsink.

I'd personally recommend the SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3, the cache and RPM are sexy for the price.

Oh, and get this combo for your 6870:

You'll get the 6870, Shogun 2, and Dirt 3 for 164 after rebate.

Aw man, that Shogun 2. Now I feel conflicted between the GTX 560 and HD 6870.

Alright, I appreciate it. Don't want to stretch my budget, so I guess GTX 560 ti is out of favor. Now its just between HD 6870 and the GTX 560. I feel a bit more inclined to get the HD 6870 because of Shogun, but we'll see.

Edit: On a second thought, what do you guys think about the i3 sandy-bridge?

Not worth going dual core nowadays(even if those I3s are pretty good for dual cores). Either way, if you plan on going with a K version of I5s i still say drop the after market cooler and go with a better GPU, then overclock later on when you get the money for a new heatsink. Just my opinion though^^
Supposedly you can get to 4ghz on the stock cooler easily without heat problems.

After I build my computer, I plan on adding case fans. One 120mm fan intake , one 200mm fan intake, and one 140mm outtake.

Is this good airflow? Because I heard of stuff like negative and positive airflow and I was wondering if the way I setup those fans would be bad.
