www.ultimate-guitar.com Youtube is okay, but alot of people play the wrong chords/notes. I would also try going to the library and finding some books or dvds. I cant really say that alot of the books are any good. You would have to read though them and see for yourself. Last edited by hobolord; 06-28-2011 at 06:17 AM. |

Don't look for the "easiest" way to learn. Easy isn't necessarily best.
You're better off taking lessons or if you wish to do it on your own, dedicate a lot of your time to learning the basics. Learn the fretboard, learn chords, and learn scales. What style in particular are you looking to learn? Last edited by drawnzer54; 06-28-2011 at 06:57 AM. |

id say take up front lessons first if you dont have the strong drive for it. I'd say UG is a good start for being self-taught.
scales are very important when it comes to improvising or doodling new riffs. also repetition is as well (you're a drummer so you prolly know that)

If you don't have the willpower and the love for the instrument then you really are going to have a hard time during the first months.
I used to practice on average 5 hours a day during my first 3 months. And I still go strong, there isn't a single day I won't come home and pick up my acoustic or my electric and play a little meddley. And even now i'm not the guitarrist i'd like to be, no no not even close. BUT i'm not the typical chord and rythm strummer, I do fingerpicking, lead soloing and walking basslines stuff like that so it's diferent. Anyway, lessons i've heard help lots and also heard they don't. I'm guessing lessons are the best way to learn music theory and the basic chords and stuff. I'd sign up for some lessons and do some exercises, you'll be doing fine in no time. Last edited by Darc; 06-28-2011 at 06:06 PM. |
