Currently a program called HHS in China and is inviting people from ages 18-29 to come do home stay and study in china. The increments of your stay can be 3/6/12 months. I've been living in china for the past 10 and a half months with this program.

You get 740 yuan a month, they pay for your language college which is 2 hours a day monday through friday (200Yuan an hour (30USD), and the host family pretty much covers everything else. All the host families are extremely wealthy and live in large homes. You will have your own bedroom, and usually your own bathroom. They pay for your bus pass, and give you a cell phone.

All you do is, play with the family and speak english with the children for a set amount of time a day. If the family travels you will go with them and everything will be paid for. the program leader is always in contact with you via text, and phone calls so if you have any problems they are always there to rescue you.

You must:
Have/get a valid passport
be fluent in english
have a clear criminal record.
and send them a valid physical note from a doctor.

When your time is up with the program, they give you up to 5000Yuan (800ish USD) for a plane ticket. If your plane ticket is less you get the difference in money to pocket.

I've spent like 60$ out of my own pocket since i've been here and that all goes to a vpn service i use. You dont need to spend any of your personal money.

What you have to pay for before you come is:
1 way plane ticket (www.kayak.com) right now plane tickets are expensive but i got mine for 460$ from america to china when i came.
If you dont live near a chinese consulate you need to pay a company to get get the visa. ( its nearly impossible to get a visa to china with out an invitation, which the program sends you)
and a 250$ deposit. ( this is incase you go buck wild and do something dumb.. you get it back at the end of the contract time )
if you have insurance the physical will be free. ( i got around it by sending them STD/HIV test and my shot records )
the last thing is a criminal record check from your local police department, you can do it online for 15 or something thats what i paid.

If your parents are like mine and wanted me out of the house for a while to get a break from kids, they will gladly help you with the upfront cost. After these cost you're home free. If you're worried about this shit being legit. You can skype me or add gimme your facebook and you can see my pictures/post of being in china.

Actually they do, i've met people from sweden, germany, france, spain, UK, AUS. As long as you can speak fluent english and are representable you'll be fine.

Thats exactly why i ended up signing up! I was so scared at first though, i thought i was going to get kidnapped for some sex trade!
But the program picks you up at the air port with the family you'll be living with. My flight was delayed 3 hours and they waited the whole time for me. They hold a big sign saying HHS with your name on it.

Also if people are worried about not knowing chinese, it doesnt matter! i came with out knowing any chinese. They enroll you in really good language school, and you practice all day every day so you end up picking up chinese REALLY fast.
