Every time I type in a website or try to click on a link to a website it says Redirecting then takes me to a random search site. I have to click a link 4 or 5 times before I get to the actual site I want to go to wtf is this? And how do I get rid of it.

I don't have any anti virus because most of them are extremely annoying and don't let you uninstall them or just slow your computer down even more. But I am really careful and usually don't get viruses this is the first I have gotten on this computer that I know of. If you know any programs I can use to get rid of this thing that would be great.

First, if you don't already use FireFox, get it --Then get the app "NoScript" it blocks everything and anything. To unblock a site you trust, you right click the screen->NoScript->list of sites and addresses that are currently a part of, or connected to, the site(like ads) Next, get Microsoft Security Essentials. it will be your anti-virus It's free, and the firewall doesn't eat up much memory processing strength, while still being very effective and free Last, get yourself spybot search&destroy. It will be your anti-malware/spyware It has a form of passive protection, and additional firewall system "tea timer: however, don't use it if your computer isn't the best, as it DOES eat up some memory usage while active. This, if you continue using them and staying away from bad sites, will keep you safe. This is what I do, and I've been safe for well over a year. As to whether or not you donate to SBSD and NoScript is up to you.

You should also grab Adaware & Spybot S&D and scan your computer for spyware/malware.
Unfortunately no matter how safe you think you are being, you will always be better off with some form of anti virus, I'd suggest using Avast Personal, it's free and has a gaming/silent mode which disables all notifications/sounds so they don't continually pop up when you are trying to play a game/work/watch a movie. |

Just stop using IE imo.
I never have had that problem with FF or Chrome. The bulk of shit like that is for IE, because its designed for people who are easily tricked (not saying you are!) and that is what comes standard on 99% of PCs. Its for people who can't/don't figure out how to change their browser. I had it happen to me a few times back in the day. Then I switched to Netscape, then I perma broke that and switched to Firefox. Never looked back again. |
