Default c++ VS python

my programmer already knows some python, has been working as a programmer in a very indepth mud (dragonrealms). would it be best to stick with there experience in python and try to fight our way through all the "hacks' to other programs needed to get the job done or just go ahead and do it all with c++ which everything was originally written for to begin with.

the game hopefully is gonna be a scifi game using graphics similar to starwars galaxy or eq2, well eventually, but the 1st/3rd person perspective options, not a fps. any input would be appreciated
:smile:

Previously, there was a post talking about how python can do everything C++ can. I would say to stick with python because (as discussed in that post), it can do everything C++ can, except the C++ games' graphics look better. I'm not sure if you can use directx with python, but if u can, totally stick with python. That's my view on this at least.

yea havent seen anything about direct x with python although i did find a open gl engine for it. just noticed goin over alot of things that it seems to have a fiew holes? in the different libs, not sure exactly what will be needed there but she might have a better idea, personally the last programing i did was on a racio shack color compter 80 that pluged into the tv in old basic, so im a little lost on that now, working on the 3d graphics myself

Python is meant for multi-platform use. Using Python and DirectX would limit the application to Windows only (or WINE). So I don't see why anyone would bother building a DirectX module.
