I had the privilege of playing in the 7 days of Scarlet Legacy's Closed Beta Testing. I have enjoyed playing in the Closed Betas for many games to include: Runes of Magic, Atlantica Online, World of Tanks, Gods and Heroes, and quite a few more. The four that I listed were the only ones which entertained me for more than a day.
Why do I tell you this? Because, for the first time I have played an entire Closed Beta for a game, and enjoyed it so much that I have decided to participate in the open beta of the game as well. Scarlet Legacy is a free-to-play MMO unlike, but still similar to what we all love. In many of the free-to-play MMOs out there, we have the common theme of item shop buyers buying their way to the top. In Scarlet Legacy, everything in the item shop can be obtained through in-game means. The mounts are outstanding, one can be carried by cannibals, turtles, ogres, horses, and so many more. Don't believe me? check out this creative picture posted by a player name Valkene: ![]() The game goes online in almost exactly one week. Joining early would make it easier for anyone to get to the top of the charts in the ranking. Don't miss out on this fantastic game. If you are good enough, you can even get your own statue such as this: This is an actual screenshot of my in game character. Anyone who reaches the top of the charts in their class will have the privilege of having their statue placed in the square of the main city. All of your equipment and the features you add to your character will be displayed as well. Here is one of my favorite screenshots, posted by a player named Bloni in one of the screen shot competitions: ![]() The GMs are well-involved with the game. I had the privilege in Closed Beta to test out some of the multiple-person mounts with the GMs. At least one GM can almost always be found in the main city. For once there is actually a game with real prizes! If that is your thing, this game has it too. During Closed Beta, the developers gave away 5 Ipad2s, 40 Razer keyboards, and 40 Razer mouse's (or do you say mice, if your talking about a computer mouse? I am not sure). I would try to give out a ratings, such as 5/10, or 6/10, or whatever most game reviewers would give. But for the simple fact that I am entirely bias and I fell in love with this game, I cannot give this game anything other than a 10/10. I have played many MMOs, and this one has really caught my eye. Do not miss out on playing this MMO. It may not change the world of F2P MMOs, but it is the newest, and best edition. I hope to see you in game! See me in game with the name - Tristan or in the forums with the name TristanV. Not saying the game is bad (haven't played it, nor do I have any interest in doing so) but acting like those are impressive graphics even for a F2P game is laughable.

By graphics, I more meant the detail & creativity of the environment.
I.e., in that screenshot it shows a detailed cape & spear with an aura on the hero (all customizable and will change with different equipment). It shows an intense moon behind rock mountains, a church with tile roof, and a flagstrip. The graphics themselves are not that great in that photo, for that is a cropped screenshot of a screenshot which somebody posted on forums, and it is unknown what settings they used. This game is a must-see. If you are not impressed with the graphics of those screenshots, I ask you to see them for yourself in games. I was thoroughly impressed with this game compared to so many other f2p games I have played. Yes, I agree the translation was poor with CBT. However, that was part of Closed Beta, and Open Beta will have better translations. Last edited by Calirose; 08-12-2011 at 04:40 AM. Reason: -=Doublepost=- |

The PVP is very well developed. And because of the ability to move and cast, or move and fight, team battles become very tactical.
Any player over level 25 can switch their character into PVP mode. In this mode, their name becomes red and anyone can attack them/they can attack anyone else with a red name, anywhere in the game. Every day there is about 40 daily events held in instances (This is a rough estimate, you'd have to scroll through the forums to find the correct answer for this). Most of these events are PVP-related, whereas some are PVE-related, or mini games, like the games own custom Mahjong, or Whack-A-Mole. In most of the PVP-related events, one can enter solo, or in a team. Players with the most kills will receive the greatest rewards from the events. In all of the events, guilds are rewarded for how well they are represented. Through these mini-games, guilds can level up, and/or be enhanced. There is also a Permanent PVP-map. In this map, everybody is PVP, and treasures are hidden around the map. Players can fight solo or in teams to find and uncover the treasures. Players also receive experience for the amount of time they are in the PVP-map, which gives an extra incentive for people to go to the map. The last day of Closed Beta, almost everybody had reached the max CBT level, and there was a large PVP battle in the main city. This showed that there is a very large interest in PVP within the community. If you are interested in PVE, there are many rewards for teams going through dungeons together, as well as nice rewards for repeatable quests, and the standard storyline quests. An interesting concept within the game is also a clan-setup. One earns reputation with each of the many NPC clans. The reputation can go up or down, and it is unknown yet, what rewards one may gain from having strong reputation with each clan. Last edited by Calirose; 08-12-2011 at 05:02 AM. |
