Honestly, I think the F2P is worth it.
on my account (vip inactive) I started out with no points. I was able to unlock my next levels (copper signet?) and purchased favored soul within reaching lvl 4.

So...you earn CS points and unlock content from simply playing? That sounds like part of the game, rather than any f2p model. There's no 'premium' account where everything is unlocked and ready to do, and have access to all areas?
It just sounds like you play, but if you want access to everything and don't want to be left behind, you have to pay. That's not f2p, that's a trial.
