Theoretically the number of load cycles (plugged in, taken from the plug) roughly determines how long the battery is going to retain it's capacity. In short: Topping off = Bad However there are several technologies that help reducing that influence (load cycle management) so it's not really all that noticeable like it used to be. Depending on the make (and each device) you might not notice any difference till it's at 70% of the original capacity, which is where you usually might already see it go to hell fast anyways. What you did was straining the thing though. Not that you really have all that much choice, if you want a phone that is ready for making a several hours long trip at any time. Concerning batteries: I have an non-brand battery for my android phone. It helps a lot if you can root because you can than reset battery stats. My phone won't reset the battery stats otherwise (if you don't use a branded one, through some shady encrypted ship crap), so just putting in a new battery might not end up in getting more capacity out of it, then you had before. |
