Hi , when I go on Dxdiag to check my video card it says I have a radeon hd 6800 series with 738 mb memory. But I have a radeon HD 6850 series with 1gb mb memory , I went on this site and downloaded the latest drivers: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

No luck , it still says I have a 6800 series and the date won't update , can someone help me please?

You should look at dedicated memory only.

I haven't really bothered with display and shared memory so I don't really know what they're for, but it's rather self-explanitory.
I've never seen someone using those digits either.

edit: it is detecting your GPU.

Hahahahahahahaha, this thread is pretty hilarious, but we all make mistakes.

When it says 6800 series, it means ANYTHING in the 6800 series. 6830, 6850, 6890, and so on and so forth. A certain amount of memory is dedicated to other processes that the GPU can't access, hence it being 738 instead of 1GB.

Hmm ok so in reality I have 1gb memory .. I'm not losing any since it's shared , right? :S

You're not losing any. It's the RAM only the GPU can use.

Yes. Though technically '1GB at your disposal' would be a better way of saying it.
