If your box has problems running Flyff, then Flyff will NEVER be any good for you. Get this sorted out first.
After that, if you think that levelling from 17 to 18 is slow, then quit Flyff. Seriously. Or stop killing stuff below your level or having some high level trying to "help" you (if not done correctly, this usually results in people getting no experience). EDIT: even the "powerlevelling", you'll still have to get your skills up to at least the minimum to get to the next skill. And be careful to NOT miss out the important quests (necklace, ring and earplug at least, but quests also give nice money --- my mage already broke through the 1M barrier, although the hope of getting enough to afford full Misty... well, it was a hope).

It's not about getting a plvl --- my Ringmaster doesn't really level any other way. My mage doesn't need it, so instead of running around whining for plvls she just kills stuff (people don't usually approach mages on their own to *offer* levelling).
She does prefer full contribution parties, though. However, what do you expect? If you think levelling a lvl 17 mage is slow, how can you even hope to ever level a lvl 40, 60 or 80?

Kargor's post may have been harsh, but he's right. The grind only goes down hill from there. And since you are probably getting 1% per kill, you won't have fun at higher levels when it's about .3%. Not to scare you off, but if you can't take the grind as it is at lvl 17, you won't have fun.
