Well, considering the recent "terror threat" to the US and/or the Saudis coming from Iran:
Do you think that the United States Government has credibility? When they say "some Iranians wanted to attack the Saudi ambassador with weapons of mass destruction" (a bomb, allegedly is now a WMD), what is your take? For example when I hear they have a confession, my opinion immediately is as follows: A confession given in a circumstance that usually led to extended torturing not to short ago is always tainted, regardless if there was torture in play or not. The accused can never know if the authorities will respect his human rights, rather he will have to expect that they will not if they have too. That means anything the accused says would be tainted, because he will try to save his humanity. There is no admittance and nothing similar to a confession possible. Following this, I think that they are using the word "confession" to push buttons and drive the public into forming an opinion. This is only useful to justify actions, not to build credibility. So what do you guys think? Do you trust the Gov of the US in what it says or not? Are they honest, are they doing the best they can, or are they exaggerating and manipulating and straight out making things up. Are they standing by their word and reliable, or are they word-breaking? Please answer the poll. There might be a discussion about this, or not, but I am mainly interested in what peoples opinions are over "who is right". Last edited by Ronin; 10-12-2011 at 01:03 PM. |

They have lied quite a few times to us, even coming out and telling us. Well, not lied. But "fixed" what they said previously to make us happy.
To me, our Gov. is corrupt. I feel like we have the backing a few, very powerful people. So, we really get away with anything. I dont blame any country on hating us. |

To an extent, I trust the Obama administration a lot more than the Bush, however, people are capable of lying, and misleading, and unfortunately, this is especially the case with the American Media.
I cannot trust the American media at all. And unfortunately, I think a lot of people confuse the word of the media with the word of the government. Being British however, it's not quite as big as a question and isn't one that requires much of a thoughtful answer. Upon research, perhaps I'd reconsider this opinion, but, from what I know thus far, I have no reason to distrust them, and I think there are far too many fact-checkers in the world for them to risk lying and deceiving. |

No.
I feel like they lie to us on a daily basis about pretty much everything there is to lie about. They lie to make people feel safe, and then they lie to make people feel scared. And then they lie to give people that false sense of security again. And then they lie to make sure they have job security. And then they lie the whole time they are trying to get elected, and they lie the entire time they are in office. More or less, if they do it, they lie about it. I feel like even the simplest of truths are spun into a huge web of lies. |

Why should I trust a government which will poison it's own people just because a corporation gives them bribe money.
If you are very wealthy then I can see why you would love the government but that is only a small percentage of people. George Carlin says it best.
