Ive been recommending Hunt the Thing to people, its a couple hours of entertainment and an introduction to Entropia Universe.

Once you get done with Hunt the Thing you will know if it interests you enough to try out other parts of the game.

Entropia Universe is not even related. It plays like a point & click with a focus on crafting, whereas out of the games that he listed, only Terraria has a focus on crafting. Try Firefall, Aion, WoW, Dragon Nest, or Minecraft. One of those games will fit your budget and interests for a couple weeks.
Or longer, if you find a group to party with.

You sound like you have similar taste to mine, some polish, content that doesn't involve just grinding monsters all day and some pvp maybe. The BEST game I played that fit was Chronicles of Spellborn, but it had a bad release and got cancelled. I am currently where you are at without a decent game, although that new NC soft Wildstar looks interesting. Oh and you might like Megaten.

ummm well thier is RF online similar to phantasy star weaponery and futuristic , three races and very terrotorial pvp, give it a whirl

Lord of the Rings Online, Age of Conan: Unchained, WoW, Rift, DC Universe Online, Star Wars The Old Republic.

Similar to Fable 2:
Fable 3, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Similar to Torchlight
Diablo 2, Diablo III.

I haven't played Terraria, so I can't recommend anything for that. I just thought of some games from the same genre to help. Happy gaming!
