You can't really say that Pallys > Warriors as tanks. I'd say they're pretty even nowadays. Pallies still pwn the aoe aggro department and for hard hitting bosses they have ardent defender to save the day. Warriors still have better tools for tanking in general and they are still tought as THE tanking class by many.
Though I'll admit you'll have a lot easier time finding a guild as a paladin tank. Many guilds have their faithful warrior tanks are not looking for new ones. I believe many guilds have open spots for prot pallys. Even we are currently missing an active one.
