Default web based game server

A couple years ago my wife and I downloaded a remote game host so we could still enjoy a game of Heroes III when we were apart. I have tried a few, but apparently something is stopping us from being able to connect. Here is what I have tried so far: turning off firewall; adding heroes, and game host to exceptions list on firewall.
The other host I used was free, and we were able to connect with no problem, when Comrade host would not allow us to connect.
Anybody have any useful information?

Are you using a router? If so you will need to port forward.
