Lorek does have a point, people that pay for rebirth will advance in levels much faster giving them and obvious advantage, in the game, however, your own skill is maybe as or more important than your characters skill, I always said that all your characters skill do is make you kill faster, but not make you kill stronger things. May not be true for highly advanced dungeons, and hard mode version of them.
But as for pvp, your characters skills makes quite the difference, unless dueling with low % of damage, the difference is instanly noticed.

Other than the rebirth, not just 1 pet, but having atleast... I'll say 4, is highly necessary if you plan on soloing Ciar Advanced for the lovely exp. And of course other advanced dungeons too.

Either way, if you are one of those people that play to be recognized by your friends or guild as a strong one, you'll definetly want to pay for the rebirths.

If you just want the awesome fun mabinogi brings on PvE then don't worry about paying, other than maybe 10 bucks for 2 pets and be done with it.

And about Service, that can definetly be sacrificed. Nao is extremely helpfull but you can learn to live without it. Same with storage, and advanced play is quite useless, people that have it is usually just because they get the whole package of fantasy life club.

About the community in the game. I have never encountered any problem, I've been playing since CB (Not playing much at all atm, for personal crap), same as in almost all mmorpgs, you just hang with the people you want to, you deal with the people you want to, if you are mature and smart, then you won't have any problems with the community, you'll find a nice guild and carry a lovely fantasy life with it. Just as I did, same guild since CB, everything is great and fun, no need to worry about immature people if you do things right.
