Pointless switch to be honest.
If you have an AM2+ mobo, you might be able to flash the BIOS and make it compatible.

Oh my, let me clarify.
I had originally bought the CPU for my current computer, as it would have been an upgrade. Problem is it's not compatible with it. Yes, for this new computer, there would be no reason to buy it, but the thing is I already have it and can't return it. The other thing is the speed on each clock is faster, something that is a priority for gaming, as many games can only utilize two cores. I don't need 6 processors, I need something that runs games well. So anyways, I just want to be certain this CPU will work properly when put into the new desktop, as I've read (and now experienced) there can be compatibility issues with pre-made computers getting upgrades. |

I've considered doing this, but a computer is only as good as it's weakest component. So while I could replace the mobo (and also my ram which isn't DDR3, and my power supply which is lacking) to be able to even use the cpu, I'm thinking I might be better off with something new where all aspects of my current computer are basically doubled and for a great price.

@Elion, If you want to have a cheaper solution, pm Snow, Trey or me. We could help you build one. In the end it's cheaper and better to be honest. |
