So, I was temporary using a 8600 GT for my computer, then I had to give it to someone.
When I come home and turn on my computer it wouldn't display anything. This happened before when I turned on my computer and the integrated wouldn't work, and I solved that by using a dedicated card. I was thinking "oh maybe it's a problem with my bios", sadly I couldn't get the card back to try it. So I used the other dedicated card I had and again no display. So my friend reset my BIOS/CMOS apparently and it still doesn't work with the onboard card. Anyone got an idea of whats wrong? To put it short, onboard isn't displaying, dedicated isn't working. Recently the onboard started working, then I used the 8600 gt. Removed it to give it to someone, then the onboard wasn't working. Used a different card, and it wasn't working, reset bios and nothing.

Is it working fine during post on either onboard or the GPU?. If it is did you remove the drivers before you took it out?(Just to be sure). And if you did, does your GPU have multiple connections?(like 2dvi/hdmi/VGA), and did you try the other slots?

I didn't uninstall the drivers from the 8600 gt when I took it out. But before that, when I went to a friends house, I had problems using the dedicated card I already have been using before on my PC. It just wouldn't work. Then I removed it and tried using my onboard (which I stopped using because it randomly decided it didn't want to work) and it suddenly worked. When the PC finished booting, I noticed the date/time of my PC was off, by years and months.
As for the other question, my onboard has an HDMI slot which I haven't been able to try yet. Only have I tried using the VGA on both the onboard and the dedicated (which is different from the 8600)

I'm guessing one doesn't work on post, unless you didn't know what i meant(Post meaning the first part where it boots up, listing HDDs and whatnot or other crap and asking whether or no to go into bios and such before it goes to the windows loading screen), if that's the case then read below. Also are you getting any beeps from your comp with the GPU that isn't working right?(Aside from the post beep if you have a mobo speaker)
First i'd go ahead and remove the drivers for the other GPU completely with driver sweeper or another driver removing program(And just remove the Nvdia stuff only). I think AMD/ATI and nvidia each have a program to remove their drivers all together can't remember. Then try the other GPU Definitely need to if they're both different (Nvdia or ATI/AMD, or possibly Intel). Also test out your dedicated GPU in his PC if you can. Could just be your dedicated GPU is going bad. ID on that GPU would be helpful though and OS. I'm not very good with these problems as i've rarely used onboard GPU except once on my last PC, and now i don't even have on this one. Hopefully this helps, if not hopefully snowbunzz or someone better with knowledge of these problems will be of better help. |

Put a new one. If the GPU isn't working, perhaps your motherboard needs a BIOS-update. PCI-E 16x 2.0 etc cards theoretically should work, but it might not if your BIOS isn't updated. Pretty much like CPUs. Thus, find a PCI-E 16x 1.0 card and it should work.

I'll go try to find one. Oh and what I'm saying below is just a restatement. Not sure if I said it coherently first but I'll restate it as simple as possible. Couple of months ago, my onboard GPU stopped working one day when I turned it on. So I just used an old Radeon I had lying around and been using that for a while. One day went to friends house, the Radeon wouldn't work when I tried connecting to his T.V (I'm guessing it was because it's too old to handle it). Tried a different card didn't work. Then went to try the onboard (after removing the dedicated) and it worked. (Although it had suddenly stopped working as i said before). Turned it on and the date and time was messed up (It's probably due to what you said snowbunzz) I come home and use the onboard for a while, then switch the nvidia 8600 gt for a bit. Then take it out to give it to someone. Come home, onboard wasn't working. Couldn't get the card back so I used the radeon and it didn't work. So my friend reset the BIOS/CMOS, and nothing works. EDIT: Ok so, I got my PC working again. What I did was, remove some RAM sticks and put them back in. I started it with the Radeon I had, and it seemed to work out. Then I went to go used the onboard and it was working. So then I had a problem where i constantly heard the usb connect and removal sound and my screen kept on flashing black when it happened. But I fixed that by updating the drivers. I'm just worried that it might happen again :<
