Because we could use a more permanent sort of chatroom apart from the xfire chat

or, you know, use another irc client if you know how. but this is probably the easiest way to get in.

I hear you. I spent several hours trying to figure out how to work the stupid thing myself (and I'm not even sure I got it completely right. If you can put yourself in control of the chatroom and ban me the moment you enter, for instance, I fucked up bad

But it's much easier for you regular users.

All you have to do is download pidgin, which I think works for any operating system (or another irc client of yr choice).

Then click Accounts , click Manage Accounts, click Add.

set Protocol to IRC, set username to whatever you want I guess, same for password. I don't think local alias matters.

Set server to irc.synirc.net

Then click Buddies. Click Join a Chat, and under Channel write #onrpgchat, and for password, write metulz.

If I did it right, the chatroom shouldn't show up on the public list.

If you're using another IRC client, and need help, please ask. I, or someone else, will help you out :]

That's pretty much all you need to know to get started I think.

(I'm trying to remember how to make a direct link so ignore the mistakes)

so this seems to be working.

the password might be resetting every time I log off, though. I'm not sure. I can leave it on most of the day, though. so it shouldn't be too much of an issue, till I figure it out.

everything else is fine, though, probably.

Ugh. Too complicated.

Is there some way that tinychat or uhhh uhhh wtf is the other one...stickam? offers up like a paid account where you can have a perma chatroom?

If its like $25 for a year or something I'd totally just pay for it.

We've tried a few options over the years. The Xfire chat works the same way as IRC chat (third party client) and we usually get a better turnout. You can just minimise it but stay logged in all day, where as chances are you're gonna close your web browser if we use Stickam and Tinychat.

Well, I'm more than happy to do it myself...but the average bear isn't gonna wanna learn and read all that stuff

The link I posted should take you right to the room by using an online irc client.

Nope, it's up, 5 people on.

edit: /join #onrpgchat metulz

that command should get you connected with mibbit.

don't know why it's passworded tbh, just complicates things a bit.
