anyway, I had my first amateur boxing match a few months ago, despite losing by decision I want to get back in there and do it again... training for that fight was the best and toughest time in my life, situps, pushups, 10k daily jogs, pad work, repetition repetition etc.. regardless of the outcome. it was an exciting time in my life.. I'd wake up feeling pumped and ready to train with my friends, spar .. ahh :\
But that was in the summer and now after the fight.. being in school, working and not training as much is boring me.. I train a few times a week and even if I wanted to fight again, time is completely against me at this point. In the next couple months I'm going to be working full time while in school part time.. I feel like there is no time anymore. but I duno I feel like I got too many things going on once. I know there are other things that I should be worried about like finishing school, but I'm lacking alot of confidence in my life lately, I feel like so many things hold me back from what I truly enjoy... especially other people.. my family didn't like to see me fight and try to forbid me from ever doing it again. |

I think its hard especially if you are doing full time work/part time school. Some people make it work, some don't. I also do boxing, but i don't compete. I'm actually pretty lazy, after 8-9 hours of work i'm pretty beat but i try to make it to the gym for boxing at least 1-2 times a week, since my gym is boxing/muay thai.
Well since you are trying to finish school, I think you should focus on that instead. Yes its not the greatest thing out their but its your future. You still have to set your priorities first. Once you finish school and start work you can start training more. I think it takes a while for your parents to open up. I use to wrestle in hs, but my parents didn't like it. well eventually they had to accept that i wanted to wrestle. After wrestling my senior year I had to find a new outlet, i wanted to try bjj but my parents thought i was going to get hurt. my parents are pretty protective of me. I ended up trying it but didn't really enjoy it as much as i did wrestling. then my parents didn't want me to box either, they eventually opened up. Although i don't compete, I do go sparring every couple of weeks. I think everything takes time, I assume you are about 21-22 now. If you keep continuing I think eventually your parents will have to open up, since this is something you really want to do. I just told my parents "if i don't do it now, i'll never have the chance" LOL. |

Around the fight time I wasn't working aaasss much, and my gf was out of the country, so that gave me alot of time to focus on my self and build my self up.. but jeez now,, winter time gotta put time into gf and school... well school is over for now but im probably going to get hammered with hours at my job. ehhh I guess we just gotta do our schooling first unfortunatly. MY only fear now is to lose my fitness and turn into a fat slob .. I get frustrated everyday. I listen to rocky and training music 24/7 on my ipod and it makes me mad knowing that I'm not doing anything.. ughh damn you life!

Yeah school is really the most important thing right now but luckily its winter and even if you do work 8 hours a day, you should still be able to make time for boxing (unless you're lazy for me and make excuses). You should just have fun with college and being in a relationship. Being in the real world isn't as fun, besides making money, you don't get to hang out with your friends whenever you want to cause everyone works in a different city. |
