A bold request, for certain.

Well, as I duno what your audio comes from, Id say one thing is important:
If you are going to plug that into a portable music device of any sort, you will hear very very clearly how bad the audio chip built into it really is.
Waste of money, for that you can get excellent headphones for 50 $, that get all out of any iphone/ipod/mp3 player there is to be gotten out of it.

Same +even more so with just about any audio card / onboard for PC. Don't even bother.

Well, if you are not using an optical output to plug it into a hifi or, use a 500$ audio card, you won't get better sound out of it.

They also have a pretty logo on them.
These are headphones that call themselves "studio" but have amplified basses. They in short, are a joke.

Of course they are good listening devices, comparable to such of half their price, but the sound you will get out of your box is still going to be just as bad as it always was.

If you don't notice that your current set is already too expensive.

The smaller the brand, the better.

Contrary to popular believe the tech in headphones is about as complicated as assembling 2 lego blocks. There is no quality difference apart from the materials used. The "sound-design" is up to taste.

Brands I think are in general overarching:
- Senheiser
- Bose
- Scullcandy
- Beats by DRE

Headphones I liked for durability build and materials used:
- Sony

Also:
It's probably more important in the price range between 20-400 $ that the phones are comfortable, because the audio quality is going to be nearly identical for 80% of those (eg. if they aren't completely shit, telephone speaker quality, they will be all the same).
Some are going to extremely distort and color your sound and make anything the same and most music will just sound atrocious on them, but those who produce a good weighted experience with probably a slightly elevated bass will sound about the same too. However you will be able to listen to classic, rock, all genres of electronic music, or jazz on them, other than just songs with "a heavy baseline", be it hip-hop, d&b, dub step or electro.

I owned 3 different types of sennheiser in-ears for my ipod, in all price classes they offer which where all mediocre.

I never owned sennheiser headphones and used them for a certain period of time, so I can't say.
I just can tell you that I do not have a lot of trust in the brand, because the products I used where expensive, had more or less mediocre sound and failed a lot.

Just bought these myself.

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-...4353954&sr=8-1

Some folk have already written pretty extensive reviews on them already that pretty much mirrors my own feelings about them, but to keep it short I'd highly recommend them as well.

The first thing I noticed when I used them is that they are very clear, but the Bass sounds off. It's not though, give your ears time to readjust to actual quality headphones and you'll notice these are a huge improvement.
