I bought a CLEAN Hi point semi auto through a "private" transaction, cause you have to be 21 to purchase handguns in missouri, though I think it was different in minnesota but I could not bring it with me up there. But i'd feel it would be wise to really have a gun in this day and age, (or really anywhere) it would be even wiser to at least keep a gun in your home for some kind've protection. Theres a law I believe that keeps you from shooting someone who isn't facing you. I intend to buy more, theyre pretty cheap, atleast hand guns are. I only paid 205$ and I got 2 clips worth of ammunition. I intend to get my CCW when I turn 21 so they can never leave my side.

Why? What if someone breaks into your house? And theyre armed. You really have no protection otherwise and your life is pretty much forfeit if they hold you and your family at gun point. I mean really slim chances of ever happening depending on where you live, but its always good to have some kinda protection

I've never owned a gun. Apart from one guy who liked to go hunting (which is rare here I think) I've never known anyone who does own a gun. Doubt I'll ever need one, and I don't particularly want one.
I live in Canada, and in a city, though.

Move to a less retarded country where not everybody has guns...
![]() What if someone pisses you off enough that you resort to your gun because you already have it anyway, or you decide to threaten with it and escalate something and get in more trouble then you would've , things like that....guns are bad, I don't like guns, they are cool in movies....wish they stayed in movies. |

I own three fire arms. I come from a military family and was at one point pursuing a career in the military. I hold onto my service weapon(s) as a keepsake from that time of my life.
Quote:
For example, 14 round clips are illegal in some states. If you own a gun that uses a 14 round clip in a state where it's illegal.. on top of not legally owning the firearm you've just made things a tad bit more complicated for yourself. 2. Firearms are not the only forms of self defense or protection. As someone that has recently found themself to spend a lot of time in a kitchen, you better hope the frying pan I throw at you isn't hot. 3. In most states a killer will go to jail if they shoot a person in the back. If the assailant is not facing you, it is considered shooting them in cold blood. Unless you can prove (and forensics supports) that they turned to get their own weapon or was winding up for one heck of a punch. If you shoot a person that is facing you then the killer can argue self defense. If not, you need to have a strong enough case to prove why you believe the person you shot was going to harm you. Or you need a good lawyer. 4. Under most circumstances it is (and if not it should be) illegal for civilians to be allowed to carry a concealed weapon. It makes the distinction between law enforcement/military personnel and civilians just a tiny bit more frazzled. While I do believe in the right to bare arms, some owners of firearms who aren't aware of the laws protecting military personnel (and some times law enforcement) who have the right to fire arms. Why should civilians then be granted the same permissions to do what they do. Peace of advice: please do not be one of those guys that holds a gun sideways while shooting. It's a waste of bullets since the odds of you hitting your target on the first try aren't great unless you're shooting point blank at the target. And regardless of whether you hit your target or not, the recoil is strong enough to to dislodge your shoulder. If the recoil isn't that strong, you bought a girl gun. As for the dog thing.... There are different kinds of dogs. If you want a good guard dog, a dog that's going to bark and bite, go for an Akita. They're pretty agile, slightly easy to train and pretty loyal. The slight downside is that you need to interact with your dog several hours a day or else left to their own devices they will behave in ways that annoy you. I'm talking going to take them potty a few times a day, playing fetch almost every day and engaging in activities that increase or maintain their mental capacity. As for whateverreasons you have for owning a gun: You have to get a learner's permit and then a driver's license before you are legally allowed to drive. I am all for the right to bare arms but if you can't shoot it why the hell should you be allowed to buy it? What the point is ther ein having a gun you don't know how to clean, take a part, fix or use? Last edited by hybridchic; 12-21-2011 at 05:19 AM. Reason: had more to say |
