The Hobbit is the very first book of the LOTR series which tells the tale of how Bilbo Baggins comes to obtain the ring.

Geez, kids these days.

*looks up from his fort built of Tolkien stuff (books: The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, The Children of Hurin, The Return of the Shadow, The Treason of Isengard, J.R.R. Tolkien: Architect of Middle-earth, a book of essays containing Beowulf: The Monsters and the Critics. audio: Oathbound by Summoning, The BBC radio play of the Lord of the Rings, and much more on my ipod, including the unabridged audiobook read by Robert Inglis and the film score by Howard Shore. and all three extended version dvds of the peter jackson films, oh, and a few video games too. which reminds me, I want to get the animated Hobbit some time. and the letters of JRR Tolkien book. and The Lays of Beleriand book...)*

I'm kind of excited

looks good~ though I kinda wished they separated that into 2 parts to get the most out of the storyline.

I personally think it looks as boring as the trilogy was and I expect to see like 20 different copies of this movie, like director's cut, extended, extended directors cut, etc.
