Question What you look for in an MMO

Want to know people's opinions on what they look for in an MMO...what type of MMO, features that are in these...

Me, I look for games that have cool class systems and crafting abilities/systems...such as Aeria's Eden Eternal.

Another thing I personally like is community and the ability to have a companion....makes the game more enjoyable to have a companion, whether it's a pet or another player as a companion.

But I would like YOUR thoughts and voices on this question...What do you look for in an MMO?

Aeria Games may screw itself.

In any case, I'm all about fantasy and adventure. I like crafting but it's not a must. If I wanted crafting exclusively I'd go back to Second Life.
On the other hand a little bit of first person shooter action isn't all too bad. Sometimes you just need to vent.

But mostlyI need something with a rich storyline. Although at the end of the day I suppose I'll play anything since I've played just about everything in the past.

1) Orange...I at this point have to agree.. >.<

Blue...Good point...storyline makes an MMO A LOT more interesting.

Another thing that I thought about is when it comes to team competition....
It's no fun when the winner is chosen before the battle begins, (such as when 1 side is completely OP and dominates before the war begins).....makes a game more exciting when there is no decisive winner until the battle ends.

Attracted mainly by classes, the more diverse and original the better.
Then would be combat, I really can't play an mmo if I repeat one attack animation. At least a small 2-3 combo string if it's point and click or something. Shallow, I know.

Last thing has to be the way my character looks. I prefer anime-ish cutesy looks but I've played a few fantasy and futuristic mmos with attractive characters.

I guess I do care alot about how my character looks. In one of the games I play, you can pay money to get your character to look however you want (though you'd have to be careful with copyrighted stuff)....

Also, I have to agree heavily on the repeating single missions....kills many games for me too...

I love graphics, solid battle systems (with flashy moves!) and a good community when I play my MMO's. If they don't fill 2/3 of this I'll probably get bored within a week or less.

Freedom to experiment and play.
Social interaction that means something.

Games like that: EVE Online, Guild Wars, Ultima Online
