I suggest ACE Online, it is really just based on skill, even if you pay a shit ton of money to upgrade, if you can't land a hit your toast!
Also the team work and planning behind it make battles so intense.

The god father of all MMOs, Ultima Online! I have been playing for years and join a new server just under a year ago. Its awsome, in game politics, special titles so you can't mistake (your name) the seadog with (yourenemy's name) Holy Knight.
