I've been reading some things that have me thinking...is milk really healthy?
Why do we need to drink milk after we have grown? No other mammal does this(granted we do a lot of things other mammals don't do, but that is not the point). Why do we drink milk produced specifically for another mammal? Cows milk is good for a growing calve, but is it good for us as an adult? There are lots of hormones in milk and from some things I have read the proteins and calcium in it may actually do more harm than good. Can anyone elaborate on this with some reputable sources?

Where exactly did you read these things? Sounds like Vegan propaganda to me.
There is a page here about the facts and fallacies from the Victorian Government - http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/b..._and_fallacies |

Too much protein IS bad. I believe it can give you kidney stones. Right now im eating about 200 grams a day, but im working out and bulking so it is essential, but sometimes I feel I am getting too much because i have to pee so very much. But you're not going to see alot of people go over their protein amounts, its hard. To even get to 200 + grams, you'd have to eat well over 3000 calories a day. Milk is about.. 8 grams per drink |

Milk is not absolutely necessary for you to live since most of the additives or main components can be found in other food sources like oatmeal and fiber containing substances. In some cases, depending on the brand of water you drink or the source of your water supply, you can get supplements that way. Quote:

A cup of whale milk will change that. Enough sugar to kill a herd of diabetic baby elephants. Enough protein to make a small stash of protein/energy bars. |

Please do, I'm curious. From what I have read the alternatives aren't so great either....soy milk can cause issues with estrogen and leads to clearcutting the amazon, almond milk doesn't last long and doesn't contain calcium/protiens, etc.

living, eating, drinking, breathing kills you in the long run. I would not be so worried about this. You can find something wrong with every single thing in the world. Enjoy milk? then drink it. Enjoy cigarettes? smoke them. Like steak? eat it. Its all about your quality of life, not the quantity. If your happy with your body and mind, why worry about if milk is a undercover poison after your family.
They have you going crazy over every item you put into your body. Unless your a big time athlete, you should not be so food health crazy. Last edited by V-Opolis; 12-23-2011 at 04:55 PM. |

![]() As for milk... well I think you'd sooner get sick of it, before it could even come close to doing you harm lol.
