I, for one, think this is awesome. The game spread the population across way too many servers and this on top of 1.7 will be a sure addition to the game. |

Is rift instanced? Never noticed that.. Anyway, I was thinking more along the lines of an open server with just a mass amount of players connecting, it would be horribly laggy in major cities, harder to complete quests and increase server load.
Anyway, if it were just 1 server, you would have to have it instanced which would typically mean a smaller amount of players per instance than just having 1 server hold that would create a large spread of players in empty and full instances.. They would also need to make seperate instances for open-world pvp and rp, which again, wouldn't be a great idea since i'm willing to bet most mid level - max level would be in them, instead of people leveling.. In other words, it's just cleaner to have seperate servers dedicated to open world PvP, RP and restricted PvP (Only if the person activates it type) not only for the leveling experience but for general connection quality. Besides it's fine how it is, getting duneons isn't a problem when you queue with everyone reguardless of server, same with pvp.. Never had a problem on my server with raids at end game, never reached it but the guild I was in had multiple groups for raids. |
