I've bought a bunch of cheap stuff that I don't really need at the Fortinos a fair number of times to make change for bus fare. what do you guys usually do?

We don't has buses where I'm from.

Taxis either.

Its either drive, walk or ride a bike.

I usually walk everywhere, but if I need change, then I just ask in a nearby shop; they're usually happy enough to give me change.

This. We have a couple bus routes downtown, but I'm never ever downtown.

I check in. If you're 18+ and a college student, you get the privilege to own a Free traveling card, and it's 40% off in the weekends, but I always put money on the card either way. Gotta love the Netherlands?
