After reading the majority of the SWTOR threads on here I'm still very undecided as to whether I should purchase it. I just need a few opinions from people who have played or are playing it now on if I should get it based on end game content and community.
I'm deeply bored of WoW now as they've made the raiding EZ mode and all that junk and am in need for a new p2p mmo while I wait for GW2. Thanks

No ones groups to do the general quests, so it becomes a borefest very fast alone in your corner. And since the ppl that played for the story left the 1st month, it's going to be even harder to find those kind of ppl. The 2 first zone are somehow populated, after that the population disappears. It's not uncommon to have around 5-20 ppl for a whole gigantic zone with all days of silence except "lf heroics X" .
I have 2 or so month left and i didn't touch it since 2 weeks. I should maybe say something positive about some of the class quests, but i feel so ripped off by this that i can't find anything good about it anymore. This is a very bad single player game, and a mediocre mmo after 1 week of play. Combat and pvp is not a strong side of this game by any means, it's a game you play for the story. Except that nothing is new after the 3rd zone, just the class quest. Only the 1st flashpoint interested me on both sides, then they become OK, not bad, just ok. I don't do them much though, i hate repetition. This is my 1st p2p mmo that i paid for and it will be my last one. Also the game is extremely easy, the game suffer from that allot, and not only gameplay wise. It even sometimes become annoying for the story. There is a feeling of nothing matters, you can just respawn here and continue like it didn't happen. I also have no idea for what they were going with the crafting system, they managed to do something so tasteless and erg.. well you will see. The only thing that still is kinda fun after all that disappointment is maybe looking for holocrons and reading the codexes... sometimes. I highly suggest to try to do play with some friends, the games keeps of that illusion of choice/rp a lil longer. On top of that, i tried to finish some of my mass effect 2 saves before me3, but somehow swtor totally ruined for me me2 and me3. I can't stand to see that circle dialogue option anymore, but meh that's personal. Last edited by Derrick3300; 02-08-2012 at 08:00 PM. |

unfortunately.... you are on your own a lot and when you do group not many people end up talking
and i cannot speak for endgame but I hear there is a very nice amount....But I have a lvl 34 I think...? Its been a bit since college prevents me from playing atm lol... but I have really enjoyed it so far stories are fun to play through.I personally think it is a really fun game and do not regret buying it... but it does lack "mmo" feel... besides the general chat lol.... I describe it like a single player game with chat room hehe... There is lots of stuff for groups though don't get me wrong, but like i said... it can be like pulling teeth to get groupmates to talk sometimes

The mainstory is extremely linear like a single player game, and much like a single player game...you will be playing by yourself. Very rarely will you ever need to party for anything related to questing, and everyone generally just skips those quests anyway. If you're looking for a game with perhaps harder raiding or PvP...also not the game for you. Raiding in SWTOR is easier than 20% nerfed WoW raids. You're better off sticking with WoW, or just hopping around in f2p games or something until GW2. |

Thanks for all the replies guys!
I feel somewhat disappointed and I don't think I'm going to buy it now. To the one person who recommended Rift, I did play it for awhile but stopped 'cos everyone left my guild or whatever they call it on there for SWTOR ha. Now to find another game until GW2 because I cannot stand WoW anymore :| |

I can't understand the people who say "lolol don't play swtor unless ur into singleplayer games". I've been grouping more in this game during my leveling than I ever did while leveling in WoW.
And I'm level 31. |

People say that, because that's how the game is structured. You have literally zero options when it comes to leveling. And there really is no reason to party for anything until 50. |
