The flickering issue is simply browser caching, I can not control an individuals browser cache although I could try to pre-cache images.

There are however tens of thousands of images used in the game and this would be inpractical for new users to spend 20minutes while thousands of images are cached on their computer before they can login.

Different browsers handle image caching differently, in IE for example it will not show an image until it is cached. In Firefox it shows a placeholder box and then when the image is cached the box goes away.

This is where the flickering stems from, it may be annoying to the people who use Firefox but the Login screen of the game clearly states we recommend Chrome or Internet Explore to play the game in and Firefox is only partially supported.

I have nothing against Firefox or its users and generally once you have been playing for a while the flickering goes away because you have cached most of the images.

As for the Flash argument, there are still many millions of people who enjoy playing games that do not use Flash.

I have been in the programming business for over 10 years and have a great deal of experience providing solutions, products, databases and games to end users.

My dilemna is simple to come up with a Flash version of the game would require months of re-training, together with thousands of dollars invested in new artwork. As a sole developer finding funding for projects is hard ... / impossible especially in todays climate.

As a developer yourself I am sure you can respect the fact no third party plugins were used and the game is coded entirely using VBScript/ASP and Javascript.
